The Islanders would probably need a corresponding move to clear a little more cap space, since Johnson + Garrison would probably end up being worth around $10M/year between the two of them. Or for Cal Clutterbuck to maybe get hit by a bus or something. |

Id have to think garrison goes to vegas and TBL add a pick to make that happen, as no trade clause will make him tough to deal.
TBL 1st, Matt Carle (Buyout$$$) and Braydon Couborn(cap dump if wanted)

Hedman is playing in worlds with Edler. Says good things about him. Do you think that's a fit for Bolts in a win now to deal pick? Salary retention is possible for Canucks as well. Thoughts?!? |

There will be no shortage of teams willing to part with their first rounder this year. All but about 5 teams in the NHL are looking to win now, or take that next step. |

Meh, I'd rather give them a second round pick to take Kulemin...assuming my trade scenario went through, of course. |

Not bad. Would definitely prefer this route to dealing Drouin

Heddy is paired with Stralman. I dont see a connection there, but Edler has played well this wc. Havent been to sold on him last couple of years.

From an Islanders standpoint, I wouldn't even have interest in Drouin. That's not to say that he isn't a phenomenal talent, but we have two somewhat-similar guys already in Ho Sang and Barzal that are likely penciled in for roster spots next year. They need a second line center, hence Johnson, because it would be a mistake to throw Barzal directly into a 2C role this early in his career.
de Haan is coming off his best season to date and is an (arb-eligible) RFA. Strome is signed through next year at $2.5M and would be a good middle 6 forward on the Bolts. I don't think very highly of Mayfield, but he's cheap and actually played somewhat well in limited action last season. He'd be an affordable 7th defenseman that can be plugged in as needed. |

If Beau, Ho-Sang, Barzal, and MDC don't all have prominent top 9 roles the Islanders should be relegated to the ECHL. |

In that package you return what I consider a top 4 D, a middle 6 winger, and a youngish depth D man all while freeing up cap. This is much more intriguing than the 1 for 1 idea of trading Johnson for a D man. |

First 3 will. I'm nearly positive that MDC will, and should, start the year in the AHL. He had a decent rookie season but he has work to do. I never liked that pick much and I still don't. I have a sneaking suspicion that Dal Colle will be trade bait, also.
My guess, assuming no major changes up front, is Ho Sang gets the 2nd line RW spot. Barzal centers the 3rd line with Beau and Chimmer flanking him. I'm also assuming that the Islanders acquire a 2nd line center here, which seems to be on their shopping list. |

The Wild have to go to a 7-3-1 expansion model to protect Nino, Granlund, Coyle and they have 5 top 4 defenders. They are going to have to move 2 of them or pay a ransom to Vegas to leave 1 alone and still trade 1.
They are the ideal trading partner for the Lightning in the fact they also have I think a cap situation that is probably worse then the Lightnings. They really can't take on a large contract like a Johnson or Drouin might want.
What would it take to get either Brodin or Dumba?
